Combating global food safety crises
BVL trains experts from 112 countries
Experts from all over the world have been taking part in the five-day International Training for Safer Food (ITS Food) event since today. The training course on food safety and risk management organised by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) is now taking place for the sixth time. With more than 1,400 registrations, it is the BVL's most popular training programme of its kind for foreign experts to date.

Federal Minister Özdemir welcomes the EU Commission's vision for agriculture and food
Özdemir: “Benefit and protection must go hand in hand in order to strengthen climate and environmental protection as well as competitiveness.”
The EU Commission today published its vision for the future of agriculture. In it, the EU Commission describes approaches for creating a sustainable balance of interests in the area of conflict between food security, competitiveness and the contribution to be made to environmental and climate protection. Fair prices and market conditions, appropriate remuneration for environmental services, less bureaucracy and good framework conditions for long-term investments should not only improve the conditions for today's farmers, but also create a perspective for generational change.
