Competence centre against food waste launches
Results of the evaluation of the National Strategy to Reduce Food Waste published
Energy, water, fertile soil and a lot of labour: our food contains all of these resources. Reducing food waste protects these valuable resources and saves money at the same time. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) has set up the Competence Centre for the Prevention of Food Waste and Losses (KLAV) to support the food industry in its commitment to combating food waste and to strengthen networking. It is to become the central point of contact for companies and associations in order to effectively reduce food waste. In doing so, the BMEL is taking up a recommendation from the evaluation of the National Strategy to Reduce Food Waste (StLMV), which was also endorsed by the federal states at the Conference of Consumer Protection Ministers.
