EU-FORA Fellowship Programme
The European Food Risk Assessment (EU-FORA) Fellowship Programme is the fellowship programme of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). The programme is aimed at young scientists in the field of risk assessment and serves to promote international and European cooperation. It is therefore a key initiative to prepare for the future demand for risk analysis. The programme also aims to increase the pool of European risk assessment experts in the field of food safety, to stimulate the participation of Member States in risk assessment and to create networks.
The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) supports the programme in various ways, including by serving on the programme committee.
In order to participate in the EU-FORA programme as an institution, the sending institution and the host institution must form a consortium. The host organisation submits the work programme offered to the fellow. The sending organisation selects a suitable candidate who will complete their training at the partner organisation. Following a successful application by the consortium, the organisations sign a grant agreement with EFSA. Although the fellow is still based at their own institution for the majority of the programme, they also spend a certain amount of time at the host organisation in order to learn from the scientists at the host organisation through personal contact.
More information on participation in the EU FORA programme can be found on the EFSA website.
